The Severn Mile is swum on a route from just west of the Welsh Bridge in Shrewsbury, downstream to the Kingsland bridge and then upstream to the Pengwern Boathouse. There is also a downstream only course of 800m which starts at the same point directly to the Pengwern Boathouse. Canoe and First Aid cover is provided, and swimmers will be registered and briefed at the Pengwern Boathouse and escorted to the start slip (a walk of about a 1/3 of a mile) where they will be set off in waves, depending on times provided. All swimmers will receive a numbered swimming cap, coloured for their wave of entry which they must wear throughout the swim. All finishers will receive a medal and trophies are awarded for the fastest finishers in wetsuit and non-wetsuit by gender.

Refreshments are available at the Pengwern Boathouse, where the presentations will be made.

The fee of £25 includes a non-refundable administration fee of £15 should river conditions force cancellation of the event (see Conditions of Entry for full details).
